INSTRUCTOR: Sue Stearns grew up in a musical family with a house full of pianos, drums, trumpets and guitars. She has been playing the guitar for over 45 years.
In 2003, Sue founded the Chicks with Picks program at the Pemberton Community Center and has since coached nearly 500 students of all ages. Sue believes that playing the guitar should be fun. Her teaching method is both encouraging and results-oriented, and allows students to learn basic and recognizable songs so that they are able to see tangible results in a short amount of time.
Sue was one of the founding members of Still Smokin’, the Pemberton/Whistler Classic Rock foursome who were the opening band at the 2008 Pemberton Music Festival and performed on the Whistler Live Village Stage for the 2010 Paralympic Games.
These days, Sue and her musical partner perform as b.daddy & the Coconut (Acoustic Rock with a Twist). Sue and Don have been writing and performing original music for more than 20 years and have a full show of original songs, inspired of course by the incredible beauty of our local surroundings and life’s up and down experiences!
