Come and celebrate Earth Day with the Squamish Environment Society and our wonderful community partners on April 22nd. The event will take place in Junction Park (between Cleveland Ave. and Loggers Lane) on the traditional territory of the Squamish Nation. We are blessed with the opportunity to live, enjoy, and celebrate in this beautiful place.
Squamish Environment Society, Eagle Watch, Squamish CAN, Squamish Streamkeepers, Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative, My Sea to Sky, Squamish Trail Society, and WildSafe BC will host booths on site. Come by and ask them questions, sign up for memberships, and hear about volunteer opportunities.
We will host a number activities on-site including upcycling and waste sorting workshops. Off site activities on the day of the event include:
-Bird Walk (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) with Marcia Danielson in the Estuary
-Seed Library Orientation (10:00 am – 10:30 am) at the Squamish Public Library
-Gardening workshop (11:00 am) with Barbe Hinde at the Squamish Public Library
-Eagle Watch presentations (11-12 & 1-2) at the Adventure Center Theater
There will also be a community clean-up and scavenger hunt that will take place over the course of the entire weekend. The clean-up will help kickoff Squamish’s pitch-in week and registered clean-up teams will have the chance to win prizes at the event. The scavenger hunt will take place on the South Dyke Trail and participants can submit their results to be entered into a prize drawing.
